Adding your own eBooks to the Kindle app on the iPhone

I have been using the Kindle app on the iPhone for a while now, but the one thing that really bugged me was that I cannot add my own eBooks which I have purchased and dowloaded from other locations than the Amazon Kindle Store to this great app..

After a bit of searching I have devised a way to do this myself using some 3rd party apps and some hocus pocus, jiggery pokery or skulduggery (delete as applicable). It is not perfect and the books are not synced with the Kindle store or available on other Kindle
devices but it's a means to an end :)

You will need:

Firefox and extensions

Trying to get this extension stuff working, it is insanely complex at the moment.

Having to learn about all these do's and don'ts about what is possible/plausible or not and all the precautions to try and prevent conflicts with other extensions Dx

I will learn in the end, it's the same as learning a new programming language, even if parts are similar I need to throw out my current knowledge of Javascript and start again..

Even though it is annoying, once I get the hang of fit I suspect I will have some fun :D

Quitting Smoking

Posted in

On January 28th 2010 I decided to pack in smoking (for good this time...)

So far so good, I have not had a smoke in 4 days and feel fine, no urges or anything :D
Probably helps that the guy I am working with at the moment doesn't smoke at all, so no temptation or at home.

Really hoping I manage to quit for longer than the 4 months I achieved last year.

I'll keep you posted :P

A look at Avatar

I finally got a chance to see Avatar yesterday.

I went to see it in 3D, this was the 1st film I have watched in 3D and I did have expectations of it. Most were lived up to :)

The story is familiar, an 'outsider' comes to a new land, learns about the locals, befriends some of them and is then seen to have betrayed them. And finally redeems themselves. This story has been done many times before and will undoubtedly be done again and again.

Pet Peeve: Posting websites

One thing really gets to me..

People who post their website as the profile you are viewing.. Example:
I was looking at someones YouTube channel today, under website, it had the URL for the YouTube channel I was looking at..

Come on people, If I am looking at your channel/profile/page then I don't need to be told that aforementioned channel/profile/page belongs to you. I look at your website info if I like what you talk about and want to see more Dx

Slumdog Millionaire

So I finally watched this film on TV tonight, and I can't see what the hype about it was based on.

To me it seemed a very mediocre film; nothing groundbreaking or new was covered.

My main criticism was the subtitles though, far too small and the wrong colour in most scenes. I was watching the film on a 42" HD TV and I had difficulty Reading them a lot of the time (I watch a lot of Japanese animation with subs with no problem)

Very glad I did not pay to see this in the cinema and I will not be buying it.

On another note, I am looking forward to the new Iron Man film :)

ColorSplash for iPhone and iPod Touch

So, this app has been out for a while now, I have only just got round to purchasing it though.

It is one of the best apps I have installed on my iPhone!

Now, at the moment I do not have any photos on my iPhone as I am not keen on the camera on it (No doubt I will be putting a lot of photos on there now to play with during quiet moments) so you will have to make do with the Home Screen for the example :)

Mobile Phones, Motorola sues RIM now.

This seems to be getting ridiculous.

First it was Nokia/Apple sueing each other over ownership and infringements, now it seems that Motorola are sueing Blackberry maker RIM over WiFi related technology.. Read the full story on BBC News
